Pitt is the series that I began reading her work all those years back. Monk is pretty good too, but truly got hooked by all of the characters from the Pitt novels. From Vespasia down through the Pitt family. Her characters in all of her books truly come alive, and end up feeling like real friends.
With the Monk series, his struggle to remember his life, understand the sort of person that he was and not blow it when people would recognize him and he didn’t have a clue who they were was very interesting. It was kind of heartbreaking but skillfully written for sure.
I don’t know how Anne Perry gets through interviews. When I discovered her connection to Heavenly Creatures, the Kate Winslet movie, I spent the next few weeks obsessing over Anne Perry’s life. I’m sure journalists question the author about her past every opportunity they get.
For some reason, I thought ‘The face of A Stranger’ was the only book she had written. A friend gifted it to me a few years back. However, looking at this list, I clearly missed out on a lot of Perry’s work.
But you won’t find me complaining. It gives me an excuse to take a few days off work. I enjoy binging long-running series. The Face Of A Stranger was great. I hope the other books in the series are equally entertaining.
Charlotte and Thomas Pitt books are great mysteries. Anne Perry creates characters that you love and never want to end. I’m sorry there will be no more of these books.
I have read two series from Perry: the Charlotte and Thomas Pitt series and the following Daniel Pitt series. I have read a smattering of the Christmas ones. I was reading one of my book sites and found she died in 2023. I was very sad as she is a prolific author and there is always something new in the series to anticipate. Her characters are so wonderfully well drawn and diverse, even the villains have depth. She is very adept at historical mysteries. She will be missed.
Anne Perry has written many series, some of which blend together – same characters, same story line. I just read on of the Daniel Pitt series – 21 Days, and she continues with excellent stories.
