Stephen Hunter is one of the top-tier thriller writers I know. I like how he incorporates real-life figures in most of his stories. Earl Swagger series and Bobby lee books are all thrilling and fascinating.
The action and suspense in Earl Swagger just kept me flipping pages to know what happens next.
Bobby Lee Swagger is my all-time favorite character, thanks to his tough and unforgettable nature. The action, plot, and settings in the entire series are plausible.
The Shooter movie based on the Bob Lee Swagger series is just as thrilling as the book. The film stars Mark Wahlberg and Kate Mara. Thanks to this book list, I’ve discovered more books by Stephen Hunter.

Bob Lee Swagger is not Jack Reacher. That is the first comparison I made when a friend described him as a war Veteran that went around killing bad guys for various reasons.

These days, it feels like every other action thriller is a Jack Reacher or Jason Bourne clone. The publishing arena has too many vigilantes with military backgrounds wandering the US.

But Swagger is different. He feels more grounded, which I like. Someone told me that Hunter’s books wouldn’t appeal to me unless I were a gun enthusiast. But they were wrong. The gun talk did not bore me quite as much as I expected. In fact, I learned a lot.
