Colin Dexter was the author of the Inspector Morse series which consists of 13 novels. The Inspector Morse series started in 1975 with the novel Last Bus to Woodstock. The Inspector Morse series of novels was made into a TV show. John Thaw played the role of the lead character, Detective Chief Inspector Morse, while Sergeant Lewis was played by Kevin Whately. Each episode would run approximately 100 minutes, and there were a total of 33 episodes. There were 7 seasons, with 5 specials. The first episode aired in 1987, with the final episode in 2000. Radio Times readers awarded it the greatest British Crime Drama ever. It was also nominated for a People's Detective Dagger award at the Crime Thriller Awards in 2020. The final episode of the show was an adaptation of The Remorseful Day.
