Charles Todd has always fascinated me because I have never heard of mother/son writing teams. Husband/wife and mother/daughter teams are relatively common. But a mother/son collaboration is new to me.

Initially, I couldn’t figure out why I found Todd so compelling. But then I re-read A Duty to the Dead a few days ago and realized just how descriptive the author could be. I could practically taste the air.

Of all the books Todd has written thus far, the Ian Rutledge series has to be my favorite. You cannot help but love Rutledge. There are better inspectors in the genre. But none of them are quite as noble as Rutledge.
