R.L. Stine (Robert Lawrence Stine) was born on October 8th, 1943 and is currently 80 years old. R.L. Stine was born in Columbus, Ohio, USA.
R.L. Stine is the author of the Goosebumps series which currently consists of 62 novels. The Goosebumps series started in 1992 with the novel Welcome to Dead House. The most recently released novel in the Goosebumps series was Monster Blood IV which was released in 1997. There are no upcoming novels for the Goosebumps series.
R.L. Stine (Robert Lawrence Stine) has also written the Fear Street series which has 49 books including The New Girl and The Surprise Party.
R.L. Stine has won multiple awards including: The International Thriller Writers Award, Thrillermaster, in 2011, Bram Stoker Awards, Lifetime Achievement Award, in 2013 and the Edgar Award, Grand Master, in 2024.
Stine's book, FaceOff was nominated for the Anthony Award, Best Anthology / Collection, in 2015.
Stine's first foray into television was a Goosebumps television show that aired from 1995 to 1998. The series aired on Fox Kids in the U.S. and produced 74 episodes over the four years. The Nightmare Room was also made into a television series and aired from 2001 to 2002. Another series based on Stine's work was R. L. Stine's The Haunting Hour which aired from 2010 to 2014 and produced 76 episodes. Fear Street was also turned into a television show, but only the pilot aired. It was called Ghosts of Fear Street and aired on ABC in 1998. However, the ratings were so poor that was all that was ever made of that. A standalone novel from R.L. Stine, Eye Candy, was made into a television series in 2015 and aired on MTV. The series starred Victoria Justice as Lindy Sampson. The show was a big hit, but a change in leadership at the network lead to the end of scripted shows on MTV and Eye Candy's cancellation.
