Andrew Taylor is the king of historical and crime fiction. Coming from me, that doesn’t actually mean anything. Taylor is the only historical fiction author I have ever read. Maybe if I read more historical fiction, my mind will change.

But for the moment, I can’t get enough of Taylor. With The Ashes of London, I felt like I was right there, milling through the ruins, trying to make sense of the mutilated body.

Taylor maintains a rapid pace. I don’t know if I like that. Let’s wait and see. From the look of this list, I have more than a dozen books to read. Though, if all the other novels are even half as good as The Ashes of London, they won’t disappoint.
