With May almost upon us, it’s time to highlight the noteworthy TV and movie adaptations which are releasing this month.
Blake Crouch is an author on my “blindly buy” list and I’ve read “Dark Matter” multiple times, so that is the one I am most looking forward to this month.
Let’s look at the adaptations from books releasing this May:
Dark Matter by Blake Crouch
The majority of the excitement is about the TV show adaptation of Dark Matter by Blake Crouch. This was an incredible book by Crouch, a sci-fi thriller that I’m hesitant to even write anything about as I don’t want to spoil. Read this one before the book! Can’t wait to see how the chat room scene is handled.
The adaptation is a TV series which stars Joel Edgerton and Jason Dessen. It debuts May 8th, 2024 on Apple TV.
Turtles All the Way Down by John Green
If you’re a fan of romantic dramas, be sure to check out the book “Turtles All the Way Down”. It’s written by John Green who is no stranger to adaptations with “The Fault In Our Stars” and “Paper Towns” both adapted previously.
The movie adaptation of this, streaming on Max, drops on May 2nd 2024 and stars Isabela Merced and Cree Cicchino.
The Idea Of You by Robinne Lee
There’s been a lot of excitement over the movie The Idea Of You. This one was optioned a couple of years ago and has had people waiting anxiously since its book release of the same name a few years ago.
Launching on Prime Video, this was the debut novel of Robinne Lee, which continued to be her lone novel to date.
The Tattooist of Auschwitz by Heather Morris
May 2nd will see the TV adaptation of “The Tattooist of Auschwitz” begin airing. The book is by Heather Morris and is the first book in a trilogy.
This is a historical drama which will be airing on Peacock in the USA, and Sky Atlantic in the United Kingdom.
Romancing Mister Bridgerton by Julia Quinn
Bridgerton returns for season 3, although they are skipping a book. The third book in the series is “An Offer from a Gentleman”, but this season is going to be based on the fourth novel, “Romancing Mister Bridgerton”, and focusing on Colin and Penelope. This series is of course by Julia Quinn.
A solid month for adaptations. Is there any adaptations this month you are going to be watching? Let us know in the comments below.
