Patrician Briggs is a prominent urban fantasy author of all time, and I’m her huge fan. The first series I read was Mercy Thompson that I read during my first year in college. The stories are superb, and Mercy was a likable and engaging character. The settings are interesting, like the world we live in, just that they have creatures like vampires, coyotes, and shifters like mercy which are rare in our world. In Cry Wolf, the first book in Alfa and Omega series, characters show the spectrum of wolves so well, and by the end of the novel, I felt like there were people I knew. Some scenes caught my emotions, and I couldn’t hold my tears back.
i agree completely , but spoilers… i enjoyed being surprised by the shifters and coyotes
I remember reading ‘Moon Called’ during my teenage years and getting my mind blown. It was the first urban fantasy/YA novel I ever read. Today, most readers wouldn’t give ‘Moon Called’ a second glance because it has the same cover art you see on dozens of YA novels in any library you visit.
But in the mid-2000s, Mercy Thompson was unlike any character I had ever met.
Can you imagine what that combination of attributes did to a teenage reader’s active imagination? Patricia Briggs’ books were all I read for a while. I am looking forward to introducing the author to my nephews once they enter their teenage years.
If you looking for a fun and easy to read series you should read the Mercedes series
Really enjoyed all the books. They are my go to rereads
I fell in love with Mercy from the cover of Iron Kissed read the entire series to date and cant wait for more
I’m so glad to see that the Mercy Thompson series keeps going. I was worried the series was done.
Glad she is having a new one out soon. Can’t wait.
