Rick Campbell was born in Cornwall, New York, United States.

Rick Campbell is the author of the Trident Deception series which currently consists of 9 novels. The Trident Deception series started in 2014 with the novel The Trident Deception. The most recently released novel in the Trident Deception series was The Bin Laden Plot which was released in 2024. There is an upcoming novel for the Trident Deception series entitled Vengeance which is being released on December 16th, 2025.

Rick Campbell has also written the Nexus House series which has 6 books including The Final Stand and Descent Into Hellios.

Rick Campbell attended the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, and spent over thirty years in the Navy. While he was in the Navy his duties included serving on four nuclear powered submarines, serving in the Pentagon, and the Undersea Weapons Program Office. On his last submarine, he was one of the two men whose permission was required to launch its twenty-four nuclear warhead-tipped missiles.

Cambell's technothriller thriller Treason was named one of the Best Military Thrillers of 2019 by The Real Book Spy website.
