In Black Ice, I learned quite a bit about the frozen north, as well as other locales in the other novels. He even manages to include some interesting things about hydrofluoric acid in these adventures that Scott Harvath goes on.

The Scott books never disappoint and Takedown is another good example of this.

There are tons of action sequences in his books, with some intensity given to them to
keep you perched on the edge of your seat, white knuckling it to see what comes next.

He’s like potato chips in that once you read one of them, you just can’t stop.

What I love about Brad Thor’s novels is that you do not need to have read the prior novels in a series to enjoy the latest. Just like a James Bond movie you can enjoy the novels in any order.
My first novel by Thor was Black List which provided so much action packed sequences and unexpected story lines that I just had to read more novels in the Scott Harvarth series.
I think the writing is not as tight in the earlier novels of the series even though the stories are just as compelling as his later works.
Brad Thor tells of the adventures of Scot Harvarth a Secret Service Agent who works on dangerous missions that in Lions of Lucerne the debut include hunting down the people that kidnapped the US President.
While I found the realism somehow lacking just like in most works in the genre, Thor is one of those authors that gets as real as he can in a very difficult genre.

I’ve read about half of these and really enjoy them. What I like is you can see the evolution of Brad Thor as a writer as time goes on, and the character development.

He isn’t afraid to tackle real life world issues etc and he is able to keep his politics out of it. Love Scot Harvath.

If you are the kind of person who does not read books in chronological order, Brad Thor series books are for you.
The author writes about real-life events, and according to Black List, some of the bad guys are on our governments.
Shockingly, the citizens are more scared of the government officials than the terrorists.
You’ll be sure to get a lot of action-packed scenes in the entire Scot Harvath series.
The author does an excellent job creating real-world characters and does not involve politics but has a strong governmental aspect.
Scott Harvath is a well-rounded and believable character.

If Hollywood is looking for a new property to build a series out of, it would certainly be worth their while to check out the adventures of Brad Thor’s Secret Service agent Scot Harvath. The military thriller series has been going strong for years now and sees no signs of slowing down. In the same league as Tom Clancy and Lee Child when mixing military parlance with “a man alone” action, Thor’s series maintains the action and characters in equal balance, making it easy for new readers to get in on the action. Sadly there has been no interest yet from and studios, perhaps related to Thor’s outspoken views, but hopefully one day they will come together.

I still can’t believe that ‘Thor’ is Brad Thor’s real name. For the longest time, I thought it was a pen name or an abbreviation for a longer name. But everything I’ve seen thus far suggests that his parents named him Thor, which is odd but also very cool.

I discovered him in James Patterson’s ‘Thriller’ collection of short stories. ‘The Athens Solution’ was not the best story in the collection. But it pushed me to give Thor’s books a read.

So far, I haven’t regretted the decision. Thor’s suspense thrillers are fast-paced and always entertaining. The concepts are usually over the top, but he never goes too far.

As for Scot Harveth and his trip into Ukraine, I gave the story five stars. For the rest of the book and secondary stories I give it one star. I didn’t care for the blue/yellow flag waving support for Ukraine. Billions of dollars for a war that’s none of our business. Money that should have been used here in the U.S. for the AMERICAN people.

The secondary stories were just fillers. There was no rhyme or reason for the stories. Take those stories out and you only have a two-thirds of a book. Let’s keep political views out of books that are supposed to be here for OUR entertainment, not a political agenda.

Rising Tiger – Somehow I stepped away from Brad Thor’s books and the Scott Harvath series. Probably because the next one in the series wasn’t out and by time it came out, I was on to other authors. I’m almost caught up again and I don’t think that will happen again. I’m not sure how realistic it is to always make the right connections with other people but it makes for a great read.
