Lisa Scottoline is an amazing legal thriller author, and her books will never get you thinking twice. Everywhere That Mary Went is an enjoyable debut novel in Rosato and Associates series. Mary Di Nunzio is a great protagonist, and I found her quite fascinating. She has been a lawyer for 8 years and is almost having a new partner since the death of her husband in a hit and run car accident. I like how the author develops the characters from one book of the series to the next. Lisa’s books are fun and suspenseful without being cynical and hard-nosed. Her characters are real and always portray their flaws. There are numerous laugh-out scenes, some tense moments, and the mystery in Scottoline’s novels.
Lisa Scottoline is dependable. That is not the sort of description people associate with authors. But I think it makes sense here. Her books have their ups and downs.
Some twists are so shocking that they take my breath away. Others are so obvious that I can see them coming from the first chapter. Some of her characters are interesting. Others are bland.
But regardless of Scottoline’s issues, her stories always engage me. When I open a Lisa Scottoline novel, the world around me disappears. I am completely engrossed in her story for the next two or three hours. She always hooks me, which is a skill very few authors have.
Never heard of this author, but I believe I will read a book or two and see where it goes.
