I am historically illiterate. Everything I know about the Second World War comes from movies. For me, Bodie and Brock’s books are incredibly educational. I have a friend who studied history in college. He loves the authors as well, and everything he has told me thus far suggests that their books are well researched.
Interestingly enough, from what I know of Bodie and Brock, the pair are devoted Christians. And yet, their books are not overtly Christian. That isn’t a criticism. Even though I read my Bible every day, I hate overly preachy Christian authors.
Rather than preaching, Bodie and Brock are more interested in inspiring readers by creating characters that persevere in the face of incredible hardship.
I find Bodie & Brock Thoene’s novels so educational and informative. The books are well researched and give accurate details. While in college, I used to hear theological students mention some of the authors’ books, but I never paid so much attention until I recently read The Gates of Zion. The approach they have used in the novel is historically accurate and gave me a better understanding of Israel’s struggle during the war. The books cover interesting and overlooked history about Israel after World War II. History Lovers can try the novels for first-hand experience. The characters are so real, and I felt like I was watching them in real life.
