Janette Oke is my all time favorite inspirational Christian and inspirational fiction author.
What makes her novels stand out is the simplicity and profundity with which she pens her novels. Oke is undoubtedly an expert at exploring real life as she writes stories of lasting values and honest love.
Having read her biography and most of her novels, I do believe that her experiences growing up and an interest in the life of the pioneers has served her well as she has everything she needs to write novels set in historical 19th and 20th century America.
As a connoisseur of her works, I believe that Janette Oke is a legitimate legend in the Christian fiction and Christian historical fiction genres.
It is strange. I have seen adaptations of Janette Oke’s stories, and I have hated them. Admittedly, I don’t remember them. In fact, I don’t know for sure that they came from Oke’s novels. Someone told me that ‘Love Come Softly’ was a movie.
They assured me that I watched the movie and hated it. Whether or not that is true (At this point, I don’t know), I like the book. I have loved every Janette Oke novel I’ve ever read. Maybe I was too young to appreciate the adaptations when they first came out.
The books have a sweetness I appreciate. One of these days, I will re-watch the adaptations.
