2023 Inaugural Libby Book Award Winners Announced!

The winners of the 2023 Libby Awards have been announced!

The inaugural Libby Awards were given out recently for 17 different categories. The awards were voted on by librarians from around North America. You can watch the Zoom awards ceremony on YouTube.

The Libby Awards were named after the Libby app, which is a digital library app that offers eBooks, audiobooks, magazines, comics and more.

Without further ado, here are the winners of the 2023 Libbys:

• Best Adult Fiction: The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store by James McBride (Honourable Mention: Tom Lake by Ann Patchett)
• Best Adult Nonfiction: The Wager by David Grann
• Best Young Adult Fiction: Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross (Honourable Mention: What the River Knows by Isabel Ibañez)
• Best Audiobook: I Have Some Questions for You by Rebecca Makkai (Narrated by Julia Whelan)
• Best Debut Author: The House in the Pines by Ana Reyes
• Best Diverse Author: Camp Zero by Michelle Min Sterling
• Best Comic/Graphic Novel: The Talk by Darrin Bell
• Best Memoir & Autobiography: Pageboy by Elliot Page
• Best Cookbook: Start Here by Sohla El-Waylly (Honourable Mention: Let’s Eat by Dan Pelosi)
• Best Mystery: Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderers by Jesse Q. Sutanto
• Best Thriller: Bright Young Women by Jessica Knoll
• Best Romance: Georgie, All Along by Kate Clayborn (Honourable Mention: We Could Be So Good by Cat Sebastian)
• Best Fantasy: Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros
• Best Romantasy: Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros
• Best Science Fiction: System Collapse by Martha Wells
• Best Historical Fiction: Let Us Descend by Jesmyn Ward
