Steve Blamires
Steve Blamires was born in 1955 and is currently 70 years old. Steve Blamires was born in Ayr, Scotland.
Steve Blamires is best known as a Scottish author and historian on Celtic cultural practices and fields such as Celtic spirituality, and neopaganism.
A native of Scotland, Blamires spent much of his childhood in the Isle of Arran, which is where he came to love the sea and the mountains. While Gaelic was not an official subject or language in school, Steve learned Gaelic songs from a music teacher. It was from this that he was introduced to traditional Celtic language and music.
After school, Steve spent several years working as a fraud investigator for the
Department of Health and Social Security. The job made him develop an inquisitive mind that would make him adept at spotting things and hunches worthy of investigation. This would later come in handy when he decided to become an author.
Working as a fraud investigator was a dangerous job and after two
Special Branch officers were murdered and a close encounter with the IRA, he quit and moved back home. Teaming up with friends, they founded a traditional arts and music festival, which opened the door to him meeting and working with musicians he always looked up to growing up.
In 1995, he moved to California where he once again founded a traditional arts and music festival. He would also have a show on the radio where he played Celtic music before he moved to Alaska, where he reconnected with the
Green World.
While Blamires was working on a
National Geographic Ship he met staff member Jennifer who would become his wife in 2011. Together, they started a travel company that takes small private groups on tours of Scotland.
In 1995, Steve Blamires published his second novel
Magic of the Celtic Otherworld. It is work that showcases techniques that readers can use to tune into the life forces of the world through practical magic workings, visualizations, and seasonal rituals. He teaches his readers how to find their way around the
Otherworld, make contact with those who live on the other side, enrich their everyday lives, and deepen their spiritual practice.
Celtic Tree Mysteries is a work that Steve Balmires published in 1997. The work offers comprehensive insights and instruction on the practice and theory of the true mysteries of the Celts. Steve also includes often misunderstood and even little-known tenets of the spiritual, mental, and physical practice of the Celts.
The Little Book of the Great Enchantment came out nearly a decade after his last. Unlike his previous work, this is a novel in which Steve delves into the life and times of William Sharp and how to use his writings to understand the world of the Faery, including previously unknown goddesses and gods, magic, belief, and lore.
