Terry Pratchett: Biography

Terry Pratchett (Sir Terence David John Pratchett) was born on April 28th, 1948. Terry passed away March 12th, 2015 at 66 years old. Terry Pratchett was born in Beaconsfield, England.

Terry Pratchett was the author of the Discworld series which consists of 41 novels. The Discworld series started in 1983 with the novel The Colour of Magic. The most recently released novel in the Discworld series was The Shepherd's Crown which was released in 2015. There are no upcoming novels for the Discworld series.

Terry Pratchett (Sir Terence David John Pratchett) also wrote the Discworld Companion series which has 35 books including The Streets of Ankh Morpork and The Discworld Companion.

Terry Pratchett was awarded an Honorary Platinum Bestseller Award by Nielsen.

The 2016 the Tiffany Aching Series including Wee Free Men, Hat Full of Sky, Wintersmith, I Shall Wear Midnight, and The Shepherd’s Crown was nominated for the Fantasy Award for Children's Literature by the Mythopoeic Society.

Terry Pratchett is the best fantasy author in the world, and I am appalled that so many people associate his name with The Watch. A friend kept telling me that Pratchett’s books were everywhere, and anyone that wanted to appreciate the author’s genius could buy and read them.

But let’s be honest. Most viewers don’t read. You can’t expect the people who saw The Watch to buy the books that inspired the TV show. They will simply dismiss Pratchett as a hack because The Watch was terrible.

Seriously, can we give the man a decent adaptation? Granted, Good Omens was incredible, but he wrote those stories with Neil Gaiman, and they only hint at the wacky humor that made Pratchett such a legend. We need another adaptation that can genuinely capture Pratchett’s insanity.

Try watching Going Postal. They did a great job of turning that into a two part mini-series.
