I fall into that camp that thinks the critics did not understand Confessions of a Shopaholic. I can’t think of a better romantic comedy. I read one review which attacked the film for its confusing message on materialism. But I don’t think the romantic comedy was trying to deliver any specific message.
Or, at the very least, I don’t watch movies for their messages. I watch them because I want to have fun. I can’t wait to sink my teeth into the book. A friend who knows how much I love the movie gave me the book several months ago.
It’s been sitting on my table since then. But I think it’s high time I gave it a read if only to see how it compares to the adaptation.
