I’ve known David Eddings for creating imaginary worlds to serve his readers with epic stories. The characters in Pawn of Prophecy are human, funny, and intelligent, and I found myself laughing aloud when the author allowed the characters to make fun of themselves. Even though the book was a light read, it remained substantial. The Diamond Throne in Elenium series is fascinating, and Sparhawk is a fantastic character, and Faran, his horse, is my favorite character. In my opinion, the Elenium was more interesting than The Belgariad, but I also enjoyed it. What I admire most about David is how he creates likable and interesting characters. He also ensures that the plot is engaging so that the reader does not get bored. All thanks to this booklist, I’ve discovered more work by Eddings.
I have spent the last few months reading about and discussing David Eddings. My book club made him the author of the month a little while ago. But I couldn’t get my hands on any of his books at that time.
Nonetheless, I enjoyed listening to the conversations. Since then, I have done extensive research about the author. Not just him but also his wife. A book about Eddings would be fascinating.
From what I heard, he was heavily inspired by The Lord of the Rings, which is my favorite series of books. I am still waiting for the only copy of ‘Pawn of Prophecy’ in my book club to make its way to me. I can’t wait to see what Eddings has to offer.
Read David’s Belgarath Series when I was in High School and fell in love with his books, I need to re-read them and check out some of his other works. Sorry to see he is no longer with us…
