Chris Ryan is one of my most popular mystery and thriller authors and I have read most of his novel series which I have loved.
I love Ryan as he usually writes realistic and well detailed plots that come with exceptional insider knowledge to make for fast moving and fearsome stories.
It has been a year or so since I read Chris Ryan’s novel and Zero 22 of the Danny Black series was my latest. Part of the reason for staying away is that I think the quality of the novels in the series has been going down over the years.
However, this seventh title in the series is well worth savoring, reading and shelling out the purchase price. It is an intriguing and clever mystery thriller that is simply unputdownable.
I think most of us have read multiple stories about Bravo Two Zero. And anyone that hasn’t should do themselves a favor and, at the very least, give McNab’s account a read. Reading about this one series of events from numerous sources allows you to build a more comprehensive picture of the controversial Gulf War mission.
I frequently argue with people online about the best of these accounts. I think Chris edges McNab out slightly because of the many details he provides. His perspective shines a light on the disorganization and poor communication that created the difficult circumstances Bravo Two Zero had to overcome.
Though, that doesn’t make McNab’s book any less impressive. Personally, I look at all these accounts as one large volume.
