Andy McNab is one of my best thriller and mystery authors that I have been reading for several years one.
Of all his great protagonists, former SAS Special forces agent Nick Stone has always been a favorite of mine. The man now works for a secret agency alongside Suzy a highly competitive teammate in intelligence.
Both Suzy and Nick come from military backgrounds and earned honor fighting for their country/ Suzy is a fascinating character which makes her an interesting character whose story and motivations I wanted to know and understand.
McNab has some excellent insights which allows him to come up with some great characters and plotting that just seems to fit.
The benefit of reading the works of a war vet like Andy McNab is that his stories are inspired by real-life events. Therefore, you know that everything he mentions probably happened to someone somewhere. Or, at the very least, that is my interpretation of the military fiction that vets write.
Unless I’m mistaken, Bravo Two Zero is still McNab’s most famous book. I am slowly making my way through the volume. But I keep stopping every few chapters to search the internet for discussions about the story.
I know it was based on actual events, but I don’t know if it is an accurate account of what happened. I am hesitant to read reviews because I don’t want them to spoil anything. But so far, I love the book. And I can’t wait to read all the other accounts. I know that Chris Ryan and Micheal Asher also wrote about these events.
