As a Christian, I couldn’t understand people who complained about Christian authors that wrote preachy fiction. I was also baffled by Christian authors who claimed that they wrote books that imparted the Christian message without getting too preachy.
I couldn’t understand how someone could disseminate God’s word without preaching directly until I came across Tracie Peterson. And then I understood. The first book of hers that I read was A Daughter’s Inheritance, and I don’t think I fully appreciated her skill because I listened to the audio version, and I was in awe of Aimee Lilly’s narration.
It wasn’t until I read one of Peterson’s books with my own eyes that I grew to appreciate the power of her words, the way she uses the plight of her characters to put the power of God on full display. I’m actually tempted to introduce her books to my youth group.
