THE EAST WIND – I would like to first thank LibraryThing, Europe Books and author Storm Fredrickson for this ARC (advance reader copy) of this book. I want to especially thank the author for signing the copy of the book I received. I’ve never come across a signed ARC book.

Set during WW2, this story is about an allied scientist who takes over the identity of a German scientist to gain knowledge on the Germans ability to obtain an atomic bomb. All goes well as long as no one notices the allied agent/scientist isn’t the real German scientist. This scenario reminds me of the story line for the 1965 war movie Operation Crossbow that had a somewhat similar but different plot. Although in this book (SPOILER ALERT) fake scientist and the wife of the real scientist live.

I have mixed feelings about the book. The premise is interesting, but it lacked much action. One other review I read stated it started off ok, then was boring, then ended with some action. I’ve never heard of the author (aka Thomas Kirkwood). If I come across his other books I will have to give them a read.

I would recommend the book but be prepared for some drawn out chapters.
