Seishi Yokomizo was the author of the Detective Kosuke Kindaichi series which consists of 6 novels. The Detective Kosuke Kindaichi series started in 1946 with the novel The Honjin Murders. The most recently released novel in the Detective Kosuke Kindaichi series was The Devil’s Flute Murders which was released in 2023. Yokomizo has one of the world's most richest literary prizes named after him. The Yokomizo Seishi Prize was established in 1980 by the publisher Kadokawa Shoten and the Tokyo Broadcasting System. The winner receives ¥10,000,000 (roughly $72,000 USD) and a statue of his character Kosuke Kindaichi.
