Is the John Shakespeare series based on real history? I honestly don’t know. I felt like I learned so much about England during Queen Elizabeth’s reign. Maybe I shouldn’t take everything Rory Clements writes at face value.
Then again, I don’t really care. These books are so entertaining. The notion of William Shakespeare’s brother fighting to save the crown from internal and external enemies sounds ridiculous. But it works. Or at least, for me, it works.
I expected Clements to hide William. But we keep catching glimpses of him. I also love the supporting cast, not to mention the tense atmosphere. It makes you wonder how you might have survived in that world.
