My introduction to Gregory Philippa was not pleasant. I was one of a multitude of readers that complained after she made those disparaging comments about erotica, romance, and crime fiction.
You know those moments where someone insults something you love, so you find what they love and insult it back? I was hoping to do the same to Philippa. I couldn’t wait to tell her why her books sucked.
But alas, I loved The Other Boleyn Girl. I started The White Princess the other day, and it is shaping up to be even better than The Other Boleyn Girl. How can you hate a woman who writes so well?
I’ve always been a big fan of Philippa Gregory’s books and how some of her novels are wise, romantic, and fantastic. The settings and descriptions in the Tudor and Plantagenets are magical, and I felt like I was there when everything was happening. In the constant Princess novel, Katherine of Aragon’s childhood and marriage part was fascinating, and I couldn’t get enough of it. The book is a fictionalized version of Catherine of Aragon’s life, showing how she rose to power in England. I liked how Phillipa gives the reader the fine details of this lady. The Wise Woman was well crafted and intriguing book, and it’s a story about dark powers, desire, passion, and witchcraft in 16th century England.
