The Girl on the Train is the first book by Paula Hawkins to be adapted into a film. It was released in 2016 and was directed by Tate Taylor with a screenplay by Erin Cressida Wilson. The film stars Emily Blunt as Rachel Watson, Justin Theroux as Tom Watson, Rebecca Ferguson as Anna Watson, and Haley Bennett as Megan Hipwell. The film was a success at the box office with a worldwide total over $170 million. This came in spite of mixed reviews of critics. However, the film did manage to win the Favorite Thriller Movie award at the 2017 People's Choice Awards.
