Mary Alice Monroe is a author who writes with narrative energy and crisp precision that kept me turning the pages on all of her novels.
Monroe has a talent for infusing her characters with vitality and warmth and her ability to craft a story with so much emotional depth is what has won me over to her works.
Beach House for Rent is one exceptional work by Monroe that hits at the core of being a woman. It explores what it means to be a woman and teaches endurance in times of life challenges and what I love best – how to cope and heal.
Still my all time favorite Monroe novel was Skyward a standalone novel that is a passionate and soaring story of pain and loneliness and the ability of love to heal and transcend it all.
Whenever I am looking for a true and strong voice, I know I can always turn to Mary Alice Monroe.
Many adaptations are noticeably different from their source material. As a result, you cannot help but choose between the two. Most people side with the book because it is normally better. But on occasion, Hollywood will make an entertaining movie out of a bad book.
The Beach House movie is an accurate representation of the book. You can either read the book or watch the film, but you don’t have to do both. For me, the book came first. As such, when I watched the movie, it bored me to tears.
I knew the story well, and the adaptation had nothing new to offer me. But that is not the movie’s fault. People who never read the novel probably enjoyed the adaptation.
