Janet’s work is hilarious, and constantly makes me laugh out loud, and the character Granny is fantastic and one of the best of the entire “Stephanie Plum” series. It gets bad though when it’s really late at night and the laughing happens when everybody is asleep.
Her books are fantastic to binge read, and it doesn’t matter if it’s the first time or third time through them all. It’s great to get new adventures from her to dive into and read over a couple of sleepless nights.
Ranger and Stephanie are incredible characters, and it is just the best seeing them be with each other.
Janet Evanovic is an author known for for the adventure, romance and humor in her novels.
Over the years, I feel that she has changed from being a purely romance author to a romantic suspense writer that tells her stories in the first person.
Many of Evanovic’s novels now have heroes and heroines and a strong sense of community and family. What she now writes is something closer to Seinfeld where she has a central character around which she builds the plot and supporting cast.
While she has published so many novels and characters over the years, One for the Money the novel that introduced Stephanie Plum the barely competent bounty hunter is the work I found most interesting.
This is a light hearted and funny novel with a likable lead who goes on a quest to track an ex lover so that she can win the $10,000 dollar reward offered to anyone that could bring him in.
I was hooked by the hilarity of the lead character and the compelling plotlines and have now read most of the other Stephanie plum novels that have been just as good as the first.
I just discovered Jane Evanovich recently, all thanks to this list of books. I began reading the Stephanie Plum series, and I now realize what I’ve been missing. The debut novel, One for the Money, is a fun and light read if you want a break from heavy books. Stephanie Plum is divorced and unemployed, and she is desperately looking for a job. When she finds out there is a bounty set on Joe Morelli, her ex-husband, she becomes the bounty hunter. Plum is an interesting character with great humor and determination, and she is unable to know her limits. The 2012 One for the Money movie starring Katherine Heigl is very entertaining, just like the book. I also found the Kate O’Hare & Nicolas Fox Series series thrilling and entertaining.
After a half decade of writing romance titles, Jane Evanovich turned to writing comic/romance adventures with the Stephanie Plum series, which is up to its 26th volume today. I started on the sixth book in the series and read the next couple, and then went back and read the start of the series. The series is light-hearted and comic in tone, and the romance and adventures move along at a nice pace and are realistic for the setting, making sure the comic misadventures of Ms. Plum continue to entertain. Another of Evanovich’s series, one that she co-writes with Lee Goldberg, called Fox & O’Hare, had been a nice surprise as well, and although the co-author has changed the series looks to keep going for now.
I am a big fan of Janet Evanovich’s contemporary romance and mystery stories. She is a writer of great caliber, which is seen in her work. What excites me a lot about Janet is that her novels appeal to the masses and force them to become her fan.
Over the years, I have become addicted to her Stephanie Plum series. Janet’s comic tone, light-hearted description, funny settings, hilarious dialogues, and mind-blowing characters often keep me hooked to her books for hours. Her books have featured in the bestseller lists of Amazon, Wall Street Journal, New York Times, etc., and have been translated into more than forty languages.
Just like many other readers across the globe, I also look forward to enjoying a lot more of her funny, adventurous novels.
The Stephanie Plum books are not quite what I expected. For the longest time, I thought Janet Evanovich wrote YA paranormal romance. It isn’t that difficult to understand where that assumption came from.
I kept hearing Plum’s name in YA circles. Also, the character is a bounty hunter. How many female bounty hunters have you encountered in the YA paranormal romance genre? Probably thousands.
If I hadn’t discovered ‘Two for the Dough’ in my dentist’s waiting room, I don’t think I would have bothered with this author. I don’t like YA paranormal romance.
But the Plum books are something else entirely. Or, at the very least, ‘Two for the Dough’ subverted my expectations. Plum was a funny, charming character, and I enjoyed watching her as she slowly learned the ropes of the bounty hunting business.
The Stephanie Plum books are great – always a fun, quick read, and sure to put me in a good mood!
I have enjoyed the Stephanie Plum books but needed to take a break because they were just too much similar to each o be in the series.
Stephanie Plum’s antics with Hot Ranger + equally Hot Morelli are not for bedtime reading. The sudden bursts of outright laughter are definitely not conducive for gently drifting off to asleep. Stephanie’s stomping grounds sound exactly like the neighborhood I grew up around as are the description of the houses, the businesses, the people. Great escapism reading; something we all need in these Times.
I have read EVERY book with Stephanie Plum since the first one came out and am anxiously awaiting the next one for this year…..Her other books don’t ‘do’ it for me but I do like Stephanie Plum…..
Dirty Thirty comes out today!!! HOORAY!! I love her Stephanie Plum books. Her characters are wild – especially her grandmother!!
Wow, I just finished #30 of her series staring Stephanie Plum. It did not disappoint. I enjoy the love triangle she has with Joe and Ranger. look forward to the next one.
I have read all the Stephanie Plum books, 1-30. This is a series I read for fun and those laugh-out-loud segments. I thought this one started out rather lame but it picked up. If I was not familiar with the characters and content from previous books, I might not have stuck with it but if nothing else, I’m loyal so I kept on reading. Glad I did cuz it got better and the end left everyone hanging a bit. What now?!
My daughter just drove me to AZ from MI for the next 3 months and on the final day, we listened to Notorious Nineteen. We have both read all of the Stephanie Plum books but listening to an audio book while going down the road and having some laughs helped to pass a bunch of hours on the drive and we could both participate.
I love stories like that 🙂
Just finished Going Rogue and can’t wait to read Dirty Thirty
One For The Money – My daughter (who likes to read too) told me a co-worker recommended a series of books to read by Janet Evanovich. So, I took it upon myself to start reading the series with book #1 from 1994 (I’ve got a lot of catching up to do).
To my surprise I enjoyed the book! It’s got humor and it’s got action. And I just found out there is a movie (2012) made from this book. Now I’ll have to see it. The trailer to the movie shows it sticks to some of the plot in the book.
It was a good read. Take the time to read it. Some of the reviews poo pooed on it, but it won’t keep me from reading the next book.
Stephanie Plum was my introduction to audiobooks and I always listen to books while I am walking. She is Laugh Out Loud funny and I never held back my laughter. I’m sure people used to wonder I was a little bit nutty or something because I walked around the small town I live in. Around book number 14, the books weren’t so funny anymore and I almost quit the series. Curiosity kept me going back and I am glad I did because the LOL humor returned somewhere in the twenties. I just finished Dirty Thirty and am eagerly waiting for the next book.
I have listened to all of the Stephanie Plum audiobooks, and for me a lot of the charm and entertainment is due to Lorelei King who reads these. Evanovich creates an array of quirky characters and King brings each one to life with her voice interpretations. I always anticipate the laugh out loud scene/moment which is bound to occur. Lula is a great sidekick; Grandma Mazur who keeps an open mind and is always quite willing to try new things is always on Stephanie’s side no matter what; and of course there is always the anticipation of how we should interpret Ranger’s “Babe” responses. Honestly, who cares too much about the plot. For me, the fun is all in the characters that Janet Evanovich has created and Lorelei King who absolutely brings them to life with her voice(s). Dirty Thirty certainly left us hanging with anticipation and wondering exactly how she will resolve the dilemma in her next book. Looking forward to it.
