Marie Force is such a diverse author. The first time I heard her name, I thought she wrote bodice rippers. But that’s not my fault. A surname like ‘Force’ screams erotica.
But her stories have a surprising amount of depth. Ready for Love was so sweet and poignant that I couldn’t believe the same author was also responsible for Fatal Affair, a thrilling and suspenseful novel I read deep into the night because I couldn’t rest until the mystery was resolved.
Marie is special. She treats the romance genre like a malleable medium that she can twist and bend at will. Even when she uses tried and tested romance tropes, she gives them a fresh coating. I appreciate the ingenuity.
This author is one of my favorite authors. I have been reading her books for so long, I forget when I read the first one. If you love Romance with a bit of spice, then this is the author for you. I wouldn’t call her books thrillers where you are glued so much, you can’t stop reading. However, she is good in a way that does keep you reading if for no other reason but to see what is going to happen. Just when you think that surely she has run out of storylines, she comes up with a unique situation, twists and turns, and she goes in directions you didn’t expect. If you like this genre, then I highly recommend her books. If you start one series and don’t like it (impossible as it sounds), you will surely like another series. I’ve yet to meet someone that has read her books and didn’t like them. Definitely “must reads” and the best thing is there is a happily ever after and I insist on that.
