I started buying Hooper’s books because I wanted to read mystery thrillers. The paranormal components in the Bishop/Special Crimes Unit series caught me off guard.
I spent the first few days waiting for werewolves and shapeshifters to appear, at which point, I would have dropped the author entirely. But that never happened. The paranormal elements in Hooper’s work are subtle. Her heroes are psychics that catch killers by invading the minds of others.
The concept sounds silly, but it was well executed. Hooper is the master of suspense. Once her books grip you, they won’t let you go, no matter how hard you squirm. I can’t believe the same author has written romance. I guess it shows you the versatility of her skills.
Her Bishop/Special Crime Unit books are excellent!!! I really need to get caught up with them as I enjoy them very much. Good characters and interesting story lines.
