People compare Jennifer L. Armentrout to Stephanie Meyer all the time. Or, at the very least, they kept calling ‘Obsidian’ a Twilight rip-off when it first came out. But those readers are a little silly because they don’t understand that the tropes people associate with Twilight are not unique to that series. Meyer did not introduce them.
She merely adopted and utilized the attributes of that specific genre. Jennifer is no different. Fortunately, the books that came after ‘Obsidian’ veered into new territory, which finally enabled readers to appreciate Jennifer’s skills. She writes incredibly entertaining dialog, the kind of witty banter that adds a spark to every story.
I love Jennifer Armentrout! I always looks forward to her new books. I think she is in a league of her own. She always has some dark humor in her books which I love. She speaks to my heart. I read so many of her books during covid. If you like Sarah J Maas, you will love her too!
I really loved the Blood and Ash series until ‘A Soul of Ash and Blood’. Having a book from Cas’ POV was good but didn’t need to be a whole separate book – maybe a novella? There was almost no knew plot except for the end and even then I thought it was a bit of a let down. This book felt like a filler and I was quite disappointed, but I still can’t wait to see what happens in the next book!
