It all began in 1979 when a thirteen-year-old boy from New York’s Suffolk County was murdered. James Burke was a local teenager who helped the police come up with a story and was then given a job as an officer.
Over the years, he would use political pressure, violence, and fear to amass power and control the department. He used his influence to stop major investigations into gang crimes and murder until he was exposed following a small theft.
