I had never heard of Mafia Romance until I discovered Cora Reilly. In fact, even after I started reading Reilly’s novels, I was still unaware of the sub-genre. I kept wondering why so many of her stories featured a mafia element.
Then I saw a review that educated me about the sub-genre. All in all, it isn’t what I expected. I thought Reilly’s novels would become darker, violent, and more perverted.
But, excluding one or two exceptions, the author’s books are not that different from any other contemporary romance. Yes, they have a harder edge, and some of the heroes have old-fashioned sensibilities. But for the most part, Reilly doesn’t stray too far from conventional romance.
