The Confidante. She was at one point one of the most famous women in the United States, a confidante of generals, mayors, and presidents.
Anna moved to America from the Austro-Hungarian Empire as a child. She was actively involved in the women's suffrage movement in Manhattan as a teenager and later became one of the most sought-after labor negotiators trusted by both workers and capitalists. She achieved what few others could. Anna later became a close ally of Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia and a confidante of Roosevelt. She was an important cog in the FDR’s New Deal program and was a trusted lieutenant in labor negotiations and ensuring peace as the world plunged into war.
During WWII, Anna Rosenberg had a key role in war production, mobilization and recruitment. She became FDR’s eyes and ears as she was on the ground as soldiers liberated Normandy, in Paris as Allied Forces dealt with the Germans and was amongst the first people to see firsthand Hitler’s death camps.
In later years under Truman, Anna was appointed Assistant Secretary of Defence and helped revitalize the US military for the Korean War and the Cold War. She also coordinated staffing and ensured the implementation of the National Security Act.
