The Mountain Between Us introduced me to Charles Martin. I watched the movie and then read the book a week later. Interestingly enough, I don’t know which one is better.
Because the book has more room to breathe, the plot and dialog are better. The author takes the time to build a strong and convincing relationship between Ashley and Ben.
But the movie has incredibly stunning visuals. The characters were lacking. Kate and Ben’s relationship was not developed with the same care. I would encourage you to do what I did. Watch the movie and then read the book. It will enhance your appreciation of the story.
I absolutely love Charles Martin’s books. I have read most of them and am first on the list at the library for his latest book which is coming out on October 3, The Last Exchange.
Charles Martin is one of my favorite authors! This book is a little different than the previous ones. I generally do not like books that go back and forth between two time frames but this book does that in a way that’s easy to navigate.
Finished the last Charles Martin book – Thunder and Rain – so now I’ve read all of them. No idea how that got missed unless it was hard to locate. Fantastic author. Always cleans out the tear ducts reading one of his books.
