Can you believe it? Ellery Queen is a team of male authors. I feel like I come across that scrap of information every few months. And it always surprises me. But then I forget it only to rediscover it a few months later.
The concept makes more sense when you realize that their most famous protagonist is also called ‘Ellery Queen.’ Many authors have inserted themselves in their stories before. But it always feels weird to me because I don’t know if I should treat the stories as autobiographies.
At the very least, I am tempted to associate the attributes of the character in the story with the real-life author after whom they are named. But in this case, ‘Ellery Queen’ is a wholly fictional creation, which is interesting and refreshing.
