Who else was surprised by Nightfall? I know the novel is ancient, but I just discovered it. I read the Spider Shepherd books back in the late 2000s and loved them. But life distracted me, and I abandoned the series.
Dan Shepherd was an intriguing protagonist, sufficiently haunted by his sins. I say ‘Sufficiently Haunted’ because some novels make their heroes’ lives so bleak that I lose interest.
Shepherd was balanced, and I was invested in his future. From the little I remember, those books were somewhat grounded. I bought Nightfall the other day, and it has demons in it. Or, at the very least, it plays with the supernatural.
Does Stephen typically write about the supernatural? Do the Dan Shepherd novels feature more fantastical elements than I remember? Nightfall is different but interesting.
