Season 2 of the hit Amazon Prime TV show, Reacher, has barely finished and we already have big news about the third season of the show.
Season 3 of Jack Reacher will be based on the novel Persuader.
Persuader is the 7th novel in publication order in the Jack Reacher series by author Lee Child, and the 11th chronologically.
Season 2 of Reacher received a mixed reception. The primary complaint from viewers is that they wanted to see Reacher more as a lone wolf like in season 1. Instead he teamed up with various old friends in an action packed season reminiscent of The Expendables.
Fans hoping for a return to Reacher on his own will be happy, as the book Persuader features Jack primarily on his lonesome.
In the novel, Jack Reacher goes undercover to assist the Drug Enforcement Administration, who believe a rugs trader is actually smuggling drugs instead. The book starts in explosive fashion, with a staged kidnapping of the mans son, only for Reacher to save him and thus, earn the familys trust.
Fans of the series will surely remember the character Paulie. Paulie is a muscle-bound freak loaded up on steroids, and arguably the best and toughest opponent Reacher has ever had.
This section from the book sums Paulie up quite well:
“I kicked him in the kidney. It was the kind of kick that would have sent a football out of the stadium and into the parking lot. It would have cracked a utility pole. It would have put most guys in the hospital all by itself. It would have killed some of them. It had about as much effect on Paulie as a polite tap on the shoulder. He didn’t even make a noise. He just put both hands on the door frame and slowly pushed himself upright. Turned around to face me.
“Relax Major,” he said. “Just my way of saying good morning to the lady.””
While the Special Investigators do not feature in the book in any way, there are flashback scenes involving a Sergeant First Class, Dominique Kohl.
Season 3 of Reacher is currently in production in Toronto. The release date at this time is speculated to be late in the year, or early next year.
