His first job in academia was at the Department of Nutrition and Biochemistry at
Virginia Tech. He would then move to
Cornell in 1975, where he was Professor Emeritus and Jacob Gould Schurman Endowed Chair of Nutritional Biochemistry.
Dr. T. Colin Campbell’s research experience includes both large-scale human studies and laboratory experiments. Most of his research has been funded from peer-reviewed public sources such as the US State Department and the NIH.
Colin has also been on the grant review panels of a range of funding agencies and has had a role in the development of international and national health and nutritional policy. He is the author of more than 350 research papers, many of which have been published in prestigious science journals.
For much of his career, he has had to deal with a lot of public controversy and confusion over nutrition, particularly about corporate and for-profit control of nutrition messages.
He continues to lecture on nutrition and health and has delivered more than a thousand lectures across the world. He is also the founder of the
T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies.
In 2004, Dr. T. Colin Campbell published his most influential work,
The China Study. It is an extensive exploration of how nutrition is connected to long-term health. Campbell argues that diets rich in processed foods and animal proteins usually result in widespread illness.
