I don’t think you can ask for a better introduction to cozy mysteries than the Patricia Fisher books. Most of the books I read are littered with young adults. Fisher was refreshing because she’s middle-aged but just as entertaining as any teenager, if not more.
I had no idea that I would enjoy reading about an older protagonist until she came along. You cannot help but root for her as she struggles to overcome her personal trials.
Initially, I only read these books because of how short they were. Now I wish they were longer. Not that I need help finding books to read. I just started Blue Moon investigations, and it may take me a few months to catch up.
Just discovered Steve Higgs a little over a year ago with the Albert Smith Culinary Capers series and the Patricia Fisher Mysteries. Have finished the first 7 including a free short story of the Albert Smith stories and am very happy to find that Steve is working on more of those. Patricia Fisher is waiting in the wings. However, I follow him on Facebook and get his newsletter and have enjoyed his sharing his family with his readers. The idea that he and his son Hunter would write a book was intriguing. It more than satisfies. It came out the other day and once I started I couldn’t put it down. Time travel, dinosaurs, and mystery? What self-respecting lover of dinosaurs for over sixty years would be hooked? It definitely kept me turning pages until I finished it. Glad to hear they are planning two more. My TBR stack just keeps getting higher. Will be glad to add more of Steve Higgs’s books to the stack!
Again, my TBR stack is so high that many books are lost in the stratosphere. I also have Blue Moon Investigations waiting in the wings.
