Sarah Palin

Sarah Palin (Sarah Louise Heath) was born on February 11th, 1964 and is currently 61 years old. Sarah Palin was born in Sandpoint, Idaho, USA. Palin attended the University of Idaho where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications. Palin started out at the University of Hawaii at Hilo, transferred to Hawaii Pacific University, then attended North Idaho College, transferred to the University of Idaho, and then Matanuska-Susitna College, before finally getting her degree at U of I.

Sarah Palin is an American commentator, politician and author. She served as Governor of Alaska from 2006-2009. In 2008, she was a nominee for Vice President under the Republican Party which made her the first Republican woman nominated for the vice president and the first Alaskan on the national ticket of a major party. She has served as a Fox News political commentary since 2010 and is the host of Sarah Palin’s Alaska.

Palin’s book Going Rogue was a New York Times Best Seller in the first week of its release and maintained the spot for six weeks. The book also became one of the four political memoirs since the 90’s to sell over two million copies.

The memoir is divided into two parts. The first section tells of Palin’s life prior to the 2008 campaign while the second section tells of her life as candidate for the big office. She explores the disagreements she had with John McCain’s campaign advisors and also explores on the importance of family life and religion.

On September 2nd 2008, Palin gave a speech at the Republican National Convention which created a huge reaction and made her one of the most influential women worldwide. As the governor of one of the biggest states in the United States, Palin had created grounds as a reformer who fought against the standard politics of the time and pushed for changes that other politicians only talked about. Palin worked towards ethics reforms, energy independence, and the biggest private sector infrastructure project in United States history.

Palin also stood up to the political "good ol' boys club" and held Big Oil accountable. Just like her running mate John McCain, Palin wasn’t your normal overly packaged politician. Instead, she was just a regular American. She was a working mom, the wife of a blue-collar union worker, and the mother of five children with the youngest having special needs and the oldest serving in Iraq.

Palin’s story related with many and made her connect with many everyday Americans. Palin became a controversial figure as the campaigns went on. She was praised by some as honest and refreshing but also criticized by others as unprepared for the national leadership role. But very few people knew the true Sarah Palin.

In Going Rogue, Palin shares her personal story of growing up in Alaska, how she met her husband, journey to politics, and the importance of faith and family in her life. Palin also explores the challenges she has experienced as a working mom in the public eye and gives her personal perspective of the 2008 presidential race. She also gives a unique perspective of the national politics and reveals her journey as an ordinary person and her vision for America’s future and her belief in the greatness of the country.
