Ricky Gervais

Ricky Gervais (Ricky Dene Gervais) was born on June 25th, 1961 and is currently 64 years old. Ricky Gervais was born in Reading, Berkshire, England. Gervais attended The University College London where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Ricky Gervais is best known as a performer, comedian, writer, and actor who is one of the most respected modern comedians.

It was in the 1980s that he got his start in the world of performance when he became a member of Seona Dancing, the synth pop duo that had singles such as Bitter Heart and More to Lose. Even though the duo was a failure, Gervais did not quit music and even managed Suede the band.

In 2000, he got a show on TV titled Meet Ricky Gervais, which was known for its unusual celebrity interviews. While Meet Ricky Gervais had six episodes, it was the launchpad for his biggest break, as he got a role in The Office, playing self-important and socially awkward office manager David Brent.

Ricky Gervais followed up his success as an actor in The Office with Extras. The show was a satirical take on the entertainment industry as it invited high-profile celebrity guests, one of whom was David Bowie, the celebrated rocker.

Outside of his work on TV, Ricky Gervais has appeared on talk shows, hosted the Golden Globes, provided voice work, and acted in films. He has become known for his controversial and dark style of comedy, which has been called offensive in some quarters and free speech in others.

In Ricky Gervais’ Flapanimals, he penned a children's book full of imaginary creatures with weird behavior and strange names.

Known as “Flapanimals”, every creature is shown with colourful illustrations and short descriptions that explain how they act and look.

Some do odd things, some are unable to move, but they are all part of the made-up world that is all about bizarre ideas for laughs.

Five years later, Ricky Gervais published Flapanimals Pop-Up, a work in which he shows many odd creatures, each with weird behaviors and silly names.

From Bletchling, the ferocious airborne creature, to Grundit, who could not be more badly behaved, and the Splunge, the fatally timid creature. All the creatures spring to life, particularly with the book’s off-the-cuff and droll prose.

In his first collection, The Office: The Series Scripts Series 1, Ricky Gervais provides scripts for his debut season of The Office.

It comes with scenes and dialogues from half a dozen episodes as it showcases life at “Wernham Hogg”, the fictional paper company.

Gervais captured the funny and awkward conversation of the characters as he lets readers relive the fun of the show.

He also includes extra notes from creators and photos from the scenes.
