Pamela M. Kelley is among the bestselling writers of women’s fiction, suspense, and family sagas. Her books are ‘feel-good reads’ with characters that you’d want to become friends with. Her Nantucket Beach Plum Cove series is fascinating and my favorite. The series features my favorite character, a widowed mother of four, Lisa Hodges. The background on Nantucket will make the reader want to visit the place as the author describes it so well. River’s End Ranch series is like a Hallmark movie wrapped in a book with four stories as characters lives’ cross paths. I found the debut novel in Waverly Beach Cozy Mystery series lovable and unique. In Trust, we meet Lauren, a 36-year-old high school teacher about to be wedded when her student is reported missing, and she becomes the suspect.
Pamela M. Kelley should write a Nantucket tourism brochure. Or maybe she’s already written one. Now that I’ve given it some thought, I don’t think I know anything about Kelley. I can’t tell you where she lives, where she was born, if she went to school. But I guess it doesn’t really matter.
She describes Nantucket in ways that trigger my imagination. I can see it as clearly as any place I’ve ever been, not just the landscape but the food and the people.
It takes a lot of skill to make a setting as vivid as the characters that inhabit it. I don’t expect to visit Nantucket any time soon. But I can go on virtual tours through Kelley’s books.
