Michael Gibney is a renowned author and chef best known for his work
Sous Chef: 24 Hours on the Line.
He was just 16 when he began working in restaurants. By the time he turned 22, he was working as a sous chef. He would then move on to the prestigious Tavern on the Green as an executive sous chef, overseeing a team of 80.
For much of his career, Michael Gibney worked in New York City kitchens, working with many talented chefs and cooking at some of the biggest hotel chains.
Some of the places he has worked include Manhattan’s 10 Downing and Brooklyn’s Governor. Gibney has also worked with chefs from Momofuku, Alinea, wd-50, Per Se, Corton, Eleven Madison Park, Ducasse, Daniel, Bouley, Le Bernardin, and Jean Georges, among others.
Gibney currently lives and works in New York City and continues to cook and share his many experiences as one of the city's best chefs.
Outside of his work as a sous chef, Michael Gibney dabbles in painting and is also an author who shares his love for cooking through his books.
