    I agree with people who called Lindsey’s first few novels rough. I saw reviews of that nature on multiple occasions. I also agree that Lindsey was firing on all cylinders by book 5. You can see the drastic improvements in her style.

    But that doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate what she did in books like The Silver Pigs. Lindsey’s descriptions are worth every penny you have to pay to buy her books.

    She makes you feel like you’re standing in Rome’s ancient cities, sharing a street with the empire’s people. I say that as someone that doesn’t care for historical novels set in that period. And yet, she made ancient Rome appealing without giving long and dry lectures.

    I have read all of the Falco series and they are fantastic historical accounts of ancient Rome. I was in Rome this summer and felt the city come alive when I remembered different books from the series as we wandered the various neighborhoods. She is a fantastic writer.
