I haven’t read Lincoln Child in a long time. In the past, I couldn’t get enough of him. I was always traveling, and his novels kept me occupied. They had just enough complexity to keep me engaged on long flights. I suppose it is fair to call them fluff.
People think fluff is a bad thing in literature, but I disagree. I hate flying, and the last thing I want to read on an exhausting flight is a heavily melodramatic story. I don’t want to think.
I want to switch my brain off. Lincoln Child lets me do just that. His books are the equivalent of the Fast and Furious franchise.
MOUNT DRAGON – Just finished reading this book. Didn’t realize I would need a master’s degree in biology, with a minor in the Spanish language to understand much of the book. One-third of this book could have been omitted and the story would still have been told. Needless to say, this isn’t my favorite Douglas/Child book. I can’t help but feel that we just lived this scenario starting in 2019-2023 with the Kung Flu, although that virus was not as deadly as portrayed in this book. This was a decent read but it too long to tell the story. I did enjoy the back-and-forth banter between Carson and de Vaca. Do I recommend it? Yeah, if you don’t have anything else pending.
