Lauren Conrad (Lauren Katherine Conrad) was born on February 1st, 1986 and is currently 40 years old. Lauren Conrad was born in Laguna Beach, California, USA. Conrad attended the Academy of Art University and the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising.

Lauren Conrad is an American TV star, fashion designer, and author. She first became well-known in 2004 when she appeared on the reality show Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County, which followed her and her friends in their California hometown.

She later moved to Los Angeles to chase her dream of working in fashion and starred in her own reality show, The Hills. While filming the show, she also studied at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising and interned at Teen Vogue and People’s Revolution PR company.

Lauren went on to create her own fashion brands, LC Lauren Conrad and Paper Crown, and co-founded a fair-trade online store called The Little Market. She’s also written nine books, including the popular L.A. Candy and The Fame Game series.

L.A. Candy is about two best friends, Jane and Scarlett, who leave their quiet, safe hometown and move to Los Angeles to try something new. They go to school and start work, just like they would have anywhere else. However, something unexpected happens. One night at a popular club, they meet a TV producer who offers them a chance to be on a new reality show, L.A. Candy. Suddenly, their lives are full of cameras, attention, and fame.

What makes this book stand out is how real the characters feel. Jane and Scarlett are just like regular people, even though they're on TV. One great example is when they’re shopping for their apartment and Jane asks Scarlett which bath mat looks better. Scarlett replies that they’re the same color little moments like that make them seem like actual people you’d know. The way they act, joke, and even argue with other cast members feels true to life.

What makes this novel unique is the fact that you can never predict what’s going to happen next. For example, when they get the TV show, it’s not a total surprise. You can kind of guess that something big is going to happen because they’ve moved to a big, exciting city like L.A. Also, the drama between the girls on the show like not all of them getting along—feels like something you’ve seen in other stories.

Still, L.A. Candy is a fun and enjoyable read. If you don’t mind a few predictable moments, it’s worth picking up. The characters are relatable, and the story feels real even in the middle of all the Hollywood excitement.
