Laura’s books have an element of predictability that I really appreciate. People look at predictability as a bad thing, and I would have called it a bad thing a few years ago. But then I started the Tea Shop Mystery books, and they changed my tune.
With Laura, you always know what to expect. That includes a great location and charming characters. I remember reading Twisted Tea Christmas and loving the fact that I knew how the ending would play out.
I would have been wracked with anxiety in any other book as I approached the final third of the story, wondering how things would play out and how they would catch the murderer. But not here. I guess I’m not built for traditional thrillers. I can’t stand the suspense. I prefer simpler stories that put me at ease, which is why Laura is quickly becoming one of my favorite cozy mystery authors.
I too enjoy the predictability of the Tea Shop Mystery books. They are good books to read as I settle into bed. I prefer this type of book to distract me from the day’s concerns and challenges. I truly enjoy the setting, having been to Charleston, and enjoy being able to picture the area. I also like the characters and how they have developed throughout the series. This is a nice, relaxing, and enjoyable cozy series.
Cackleberry Club Mystery series – 3 best friends open a small business (cafe, craft shop and bookstore>) Besides making excellent breakfasts, they solve mysteries in their small town in Tennessee. I really enjoyed these stories as they are definitely the best of her 3 series.
Dearly loved Death By Darjeeling. Great introduction to what I think will be a great series! Read it in 1 day, it was so good! Looking forward to reading more of the series and other series by Laura!
