Joanne Fluke delivers a great escape with excellent her mystery novels, which Hannah Swensen stars in, that include yummy recipes in them. Even just the titles alone make me eager to try one of the desserts from the title.

Hannah is such an interesting character, as she is sweet and innocent yet ends up with a nose for solving crimes due to her knack for stumbling upon the dead bodies.

Cameron Mathison as Mike and Ali Sweeney as Hannah are excellent in their roles and do such a fantastic job of bringing these characters to life in the movie adaptations.

Joanna Fluke’s story has always given me hope. She worked so many jobs before getting her big publishing break. That includes working as a florist’s assistant. Stories like hers tell aspiring authors like me that perseverance eventually pays off.

I had no idea that I had seen some of her Hannah Swensen adaptations until someone pointed them out. In fact, I had no idea that Hallmark had turned the Hannah Swensen books into movies.

For now, I’ve only seen two of them. But I think I’ll wait to watch the rest until I finish the books. I still have three to go. The movies can wait.

I think I have listened to all of the Hannah Swenson mysteries, and even though they seem to become repetitious, I continue to listen to each new book to keep up with the characters’ lives. Hannah is such a caring and generous person that I sometimes wonder how she remains solvent with The Cookie Jar.

Even though I’m not a cook, I do listen to the recipes also but start to tune out when the ingredients are numerous or the instructions become complicated. I do, though, try to envision the final product and imagine its taste.

These are not complicated mysteries, but the characters and settings are charming and that’s really what keeps me coming back. Have not tried the Hallmark series yet because I know I’ll be disappointed.

Great light mysteries! I listen to these books and usually complete within a few days.
