Like her siblings, La Toya was forced into a life in show business. Teaming up with Janet and Rebbie, her sister, they formed a music group but never performed together. In 1980, Jackson released her debut album in which she attempted to have her last name omitted from the cover so that she could be seen as an individual.

Playboy.

In that same year, she also asserted that Joe Jackson, her father, used to sexually assault Rebbie, her sister, and her in addition to abusing all the Jackson siblings.
In 2003, she appeared on
Larry King Live to much fanfare as she announced that she would be starting over. In 2007, she was featured in
Armed & Famous, a reality TV show that featured several other celebrities.
Thereafter, La Toya Jackson appeared in
Celebrity Apprentice, the
NBC series. After she was fired from the series, she launched
Life with La Toya in 2013 which aired on
OWN, the Oprah Winfrey-owned network.
